The Tourist Board of the Municipality of Vižinada organizes the Parenzana recreational cycling marathon, which traditionally gathers more than a thousand cyclists and recreational cyclists from Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Austria and beyond. The main goal of the marathon is to popularize cycling as a recreational sport, to enrich the tourist offer in the early and post season, to extend the tourist season, and to valorise and promote our natural and other resources, especially the route of the former “Parenzana” railway that passed through here. The recreational cycling marathon Parenzana is considered the queen of recreational cycling in Istria, the marathon is run on an asphalted road with a competitive part.
The start of the marathon is on September 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. on the main square in Vižinada, from where the route continues through the magical Istrian nature. The marathon is about 46 kilometres long and is driven on an asphalted road along the Parenzana route through Karojba, Motovun, Istarske toplice, Livade and Ponte Porton and back to Vižinada.
For hiking lovers, a walking tour is organized starting at 10:15 a.m. with a length of approximately 10 km and a visit to local wineries.
Applications are made exclusively online using this form, and after the application is completed, the registration fee must be paid to the giro account of the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Vižinada IBAN: HR6023800061110010921, with a reference to the payer’s HR67 – PIN (OIB) number, with the indication “registration fee for Parenzana”
After the payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation for the participation on your e-mail, which you will show to our staff on the day of the event between 7 and 9 a.m. in order to collect your number, T-shirt, medal and water.
The participation fee is 70 HRK per person and includes a T-shirt, medal, water, refreshments and a meal. Children under the age of 10 do not pay the registration fee. Children under the age of 14 must have the consent of their parents or guardians to participate in the marathon or be accompanied by an adult. The use of a protective helmet is mandatory for children under 16 years of age.
